Ron Barassi awarded a bravery medal

VICTORIAN AFL great Ron Barassi was awarded a bravery medal on Friday for his role in helping a woman assaulted in St Kilda three years ago.

Mr Barassi, who was himself assaulted after helping the woman, was given a bravery award by Victorian Governor Alex Chernov on Friday.

Victorian media reported Mr Barassi was among 35 award recipients during a ceremony by the Royal Humane Society of Australasia.
