Rugby sevens event to make a return
SAVE Saturday, February 18, on your calendar because the Trevor Sullivan Stock and Realty Sevens Competition is one you won't want to miss.
Though a couple of months away, now is the time to get your nomination form in for what organisers say will be a fun weekend of rugby.
Barcaldine Boars secretary Leisa Pearce said the sevens competition started this year and was such a success they were holding it again next year.
"It is an annual event now, it started in February this year and was really good," Leisa said.
"It's a good pre-season motivator… raising awareness for rugby in the pre-season."
The competition will be held at the Barcaldine Showgrounds with the competition open to men and women aged 16 years and over.
"This year we had teams from Rockhampton, the Central Highlands and Longreach," Leisa said.
She said organisers were expecting teams from Townsville and Cairns and hopefully others from around Queensland.
"The prize is $2,000, which goes a long way back into the club," she said.
Everyone will feel a winner the following morning with a free bacon and egg breakfast for teams that have to travel.
"Before everyone hits the road back home we will serve a big hot barbecue brekkie," Leisa said.
"It is a good, fun social weekend of rugby. You may not be match fit but have a bit of fun."
Information packs detailing accommodation options and schedule of events will available early in the New Year.
