Russian wants to lead charge with Red Bull

AUSTRALIAN driver Daniel Ricciardo has quickly gone from the hunter to the hunted.

It was only 12 months ago the 25-year-old was about to embark on his maiden Formula One campaign, as the No.2 driver for Red Bull behind then reigning champion Sebastian Vettel.

However, Ricciardo ended the year as the team's better performer, with three grand prix wins and an overall third placing behind Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

And with Vettel having defected to Ferrari in 2015, Ricciardo will be joined by ambitious young Russian Daniil Kvyat (pictured), who already has his teammate in his sights after stepping up from the Toro Rosso.

"He (Ricciardo) proved to be a driver of an extremely high level this year," the 20-year-old told Autosport.

"I will be at Red Bull not to watch him do well, but to do my best and be in front of him and everybody ... that's how it's going to be."
