SA man wins $50m on lottery

Barry Leddicoat

A SOUTH Australian man's decision to use his late mother-in-law's Powerball numbers has made him a millionaire 50 times over.

The man, from Adelaide's western suburbs, pocketed $50 million and, in doing so, became the state's second largest lottery winner after scooping the entire division one prize pool on Thursday night.

It took the man, who wished to remain anonymous, a few minutes to digest the news after he was contacted by SA Lotteries.

"I've won $50 million - what a head-spin," he said.

"The numbers are actually those of my late mother-in-law, and we always knew that she would look after us.

"I'm absolutely speechless."

The multi-millionaire said he had no idea how he would use his new-found wealth, predicting it would take some time for him to comprehend his win.

The winning numbers were 7, 25, 17, 28, 2 while the Powerball number was 26.
