Sam has a Fl’hair for hair
SAMANTHA OGG is proving she is a cut above the rest, as she opens the doors to her very own salon today.
While she spends most of her days taming tangles, the hairdresser can add another feather to her cap as business owner with Fl'hair Creations - "a dream of every hairdresser".
Sam has been in town for two years, and said she had always wanted to own a salon.
"I think it's what every hairdresser wants to eventually do," she said.
"I've been a hairdresser for seven years, and there's so much negativity in town at the moment with how things are going, that I wanted to open here... It's exciting.
"I hadn't officially opened and I had clients booking in, they've all been very supportive."
The local has spent the past two weeks fitting out the shop located next to the newsagency on Railway St, with the help of family and friends.
"It's my own personal space," she said.
"I'm using Jeval products, because they're an all-natural range, and very simple for the client to use when they go home."
With black and white walls, frames with quirky quotes and a stunning photo of a model up on the wall, the image highlights Samantha's talents.
"It's my childhood friend," she said.
"I usually ask her to be my model for hair and make-up, and I did that one day and decided to hang it up in the salon.
"She said she got a message from someone who had seen it and said, 'there is a photo of a woman in a hair salon in Blackwater that looks just like you'," she said with a laugh.
She said once she gets in the groove of the business, she is hoping to offer makeup.
"I've been a makeup artist for two-and-a-half years," she said.
"Mackay is where I did all my training... I started as a hair apprentice at 15 years old... I'm so excited to open my own space."
