Lachlan Sands and Tory Edminstone both broke their personal best times at the Tieri swim meet at the weekend.

LACHLAN Sands couldn't put a stroke wrong at the Tieri pool on Saturday as he broke his personal best time and also took out open age champion.

Lachlan touched the wall in under a minute for the 100m freestyle with a new time of 59:28sec and had blistering finishes in the 15/over 50m backstroke and the open men's 100m backstroke, setting new pool records in both events.

Tory Edminstone joined Lachlan in blitzing her own personal best time, and she now holds the record for the 14 years girls 50m fly in a time of 35.05sec.

Emerald took 23 swimmers to the Tieri meet, facing off against teams from Mackay, Middlemount, Clermont and Gladstone.

The meet proved successful for many of the Emerald Seals with the hard work at training paying off for Ned Peters, Brayden Dollard, Taya Kennedy, Hamish Clarke, and Amelia Mackey, who all had big improvements in their personal best times.

Max Daunt, Lilyan Young, Wanita Baker, Lexie Titmarsh and Eleanor Sands swam well and added more medals to their collections and Sam Young, Beau Reid and Cooper Hill were delighted with their participation ribbons in the under-7 age groups.

But despite their best efforts, Emerald had to concede the Tieri Sharks Shield to the Gladstone club.

"All the swimmers did an awesome job," club captain Lachlan Sands said.

"We will be training hard over the holidays in preparation for our own carnival which will be held at the Capella pool on Saturday, February 18."

Emerald had an impressive turnout at the presentation ceremony, with six age champions and three runners-up.
