FOR the two weeks after school gets out, BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday is holding full day Santa Workshops where kids can join in the fun of hand-making a gift "from the heart".

While the little ones are busy, mums have time to peacefully finalise their Christmas shopping list in all the shops in Airlie Beach, Cannonvale and Proserpine.

Santa Workshops will be delivering tasty baking treats along with soaps, candles and other creative gifts. Cards and gift wrapping are also on the agenda for craft-motivated kiddies.

Activities co-ordinator Alanna Schneider said: "As well as all the gift production, we have a Santa letterbox so kids will be able to write Santa letters and I'm hoping we might even get an early visit from Santa himself."

Resort owner Naomi McKinnon said she thought it would be great to have some activity for the kids that also helped the mums out.

"Having the Santa Workshops gives mums a chance to relax and enjoy shopping in peace without having to race around with the kids.

"There is a fantastic variety of shops in the area and all the team here have got together and made up a list of our favourite little shops. We have even drawn up a map for out-of-towners to take them on the retail trail and there is a great choice of fashion, kids clothing, homewares, gift and lifestyle shops. We have a lovely village atmosphere and there are also some interesting new coffee shops and cafes to stop for a coffee and snack," Ms McKinnon said.
