Santos appeals for public feedback on gas project

SANTOS GLNG is asking for public feedback to the draft terms of reference for its gas field development project.

The Queensland Coordinator-General has prepared the draft for an environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Santos GLNG Gas Field Development Project.

The draft sets out the matters Santos GLNG must address when preparing the EIS.

Santos manager social performance John Phalen said they submitted a proposal earlier this year to develop additional gas field areas known as the Future Gas Supply Area Project.

"Santos GLNG has engaged with residents and interested parties," Mr Phalen said.

"Santos GLNG is now seeking approval for not just the proposed activities in the Future Gas Supply Area but also additional activities in areas of current operation in one integrated project called the Santos GLNG Gas Field Development Project."

Mr Phalen said the additional activities and infrastructure proposed in existing areas of operation, such as Arcadia, Roma and Fairview, would be "largely the same" as those currently under implementation for the Santos GLNG project.

The public has until February 4 to respond.
