Scary Spice goes into labour

MEL B has gone into labour.

The former Spice Girl started having contractions this morning (01.09.11) and was taken to hospital by her husband Stephen Belafonte.

Stephen and a bodyguard had to help Mel, 36, walk from her car to the entrance of Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Hospital, and she could clearly be seen scrunching up her face in pain.

It seems the baby - the first for the couple but the singer's third - couldn't come soon enough for Mel, who had taken to her twitter page just hours earlier to complain that she couldn't sleep because of the wriggling tot and so was heading to the kitchen for a late night snack.

In a series of tweets, she wrote: "can't sleep arrrhhhh!!!! gonna go to my kitchen and eat, that always helps!!!

"@Stephenthinks1 is cooking me chicken and greens, i have the best hubby EVER!! (sic)"

Earlier this week, Mel revealed her baby was definitely coming in the next few days and admitted she had tried everything to induce labour, including sex.

The reality TV star - who already has daughters Phoenix, 12, and Angel, four, from previous relationships - said: "I've just had my doctor on the phone ... It's coming out this week, one way or another.

"Ideally I want it to come naturally, but I've tried everything. I've tried the hot food, the running, the sex and violence. I've tried it all. And it just seems to be stuck and hibernating in there getting bigger and bigger, so it's coming out this week for sure."
