Sea Eagles sneak home at the death against

LADY Luck smiled on Manly yesterday as the Sea Eagles conjured a dramatic 22-18 win over arch-rivals Parramatta at Brookvale Oval.

Beaten 56-4 by the Roosters last weekend, Parramatta looked certain to pull off a stunning upset when it led 18-16 with five minutes on the clock.

And when Manly halfback Daly Cherry-Evans grounded the ball in goal to give the Eels a restart courtesy of a line drop-out, the points were almost in the bag for the visitors.

Unfortunately for the Eels, however, play was stopped while star back Jarryd Hayne received treatment for a knee injury. And while the teams prepared for Manly to take the line drop-out, the video referees reviewed an incident in the lead-up, resulting in Eels winger Semi Radradra being penalised for a high shot on Cherry-Evans.

From the ensuing penalty Manly was able to take the ball down the other end where Steve Matai was able to score his second try of the game to steal the win for the Sea Eagles inside the final minute. Manly had led 10-0 at half-time. But a try to Vai Toutai, and two to fellow winger Radradra after the break put the Eels right back in the contest.

At GIO Stadium last night the Gold Coast Titans had a 24-12 win over the Canberra Raiders.

Beau Falloon scored an early try for the visitors before Jarrod Croker and Anthony Milford scored for the home side. Paul Carter scored just after half-time, with Greg Bird, on kicking duties for the Titans levelling the scores.

Bird stretched the lead with a penalty before two late tries to Albert Kelly sealed the two points.
