6AM: Hopes were fading last night that missing 45-year-old woman Leisa Layne would be found safe.
Yesterday was day two of the search for Mrs Layne, who was last seen about 9pm on Friday at Atkinson Dam Caravan Park.
A long-term resident of the caravan park with her husband, police said her disappearance was out of character.
Police are co-ordinating the search of Atkinson Dam and nearby areas, involving water police, SES, uniformed officers, Polair and the EMQ helicopter.
"Leisa was last seen walking towards the toilet block and then disappeared off the face of the earth," Inspector Keith McDonald said.
"Obviously our fear is for her welfare and safety. As everybody knows, the last couple of days have been extremely hot and even with the humidity at night, going without water and food, her prospects of survival would be minimal.
"The concern for us is the circumstances surrounding her disappearance; she's been walking through the caravan park, she's been seen by a number of people and the next minute she's just disappeared.
"The next thing people remember is her husband walking around asking if anyone had seen her. The alarm's been raised by family on Saturday afternoon."
