Search for Lismore’s mystery $1 million Lotto winner
ONE lucky punter on the Northern Rivers has just become a millionaire, but they don't know yet.
The winning ticket in Wednesday night's Lotto draw (#3549), sold at News Extra at Lismore Central Shopping Centre, has yet to be claimed. The prize is $1 million.
Owner of the newsagency, Chris Pound, said it was the first major win for them since he and his wife Deborah bought the business and moved the outlet into Terry White Chemist in April last year.
They were greeted with the news of the win on Thursday morning when staff member Nicole Renshaw yelled: "We've sold division one, we've sold division one", as they walked in the door.
"We're pretty excited," Mr Pound said.
"We don't know who the winner is yet, but we know it's not one of our staff because they've all turned up for work today."
The ticket owner is registered, but NSW Lotteries has not yet been able to deliver the good news.
Meanwhile, Alstonville News and Gifts has sold the second place ticket in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot (#10064).
The winner has yet to come forward in that draw as well, with a prize of $11,000.
Owner Ray Smith said they had no idea who the winner may be, but hoped "it's a local and a regular customer".
