WITH the new Australian Professional Rodeo Association season now underway competitors were keen to kick start their prize money tally by taking home some of the big bucks up for grabs at the Mackay Toyota Nebo Rodeo on Saturday.

With $4000 on each of the Open events, the rodeo attracted competitors from across Queensland and interstate.

Competition was fierce, and no doubt was lifted by the cheering capacity crowd.

Quality bucking stock and timed event cattle were provided; making it a great show for competitors and spectators alike, and the atmosphere under the big shed was electric.

This is easily one of the top rodeos on the Central Queensland calendar each year. Emerald will host the APRA Junior National Finals Rodeo again this year in July, in conjunction with the Ag-Grow Rodeo, for which several Central Queensland cowboys and cowgirls have qualified.

The open events will be contested in Warwick in October.
