TODAY is the day we remember.
The 11th day of the 11th month is Remembrance Day - a day to pay tribute to our servicemen and women who have served our country in past and present times.
Emerald RSL president Noel Mallyon encouraged everyone able to attend a service throughout the Central Highlands to do so.
"I do encourage everyone who can make it to come," he said.
"One minute of our time is nothing compared to what the servicemen and women have given."
Noel also encouraged those who couldn't leave work and those in school to observe the minute silence 11am as a sign of respect.
For those who are able to attend, there will be an Emerald service at the town's Cenotaph, assembling just before 11am.
"There will be a brief ceremony at the Cenotaph at 11am," Noel said.
"The emphasis will be on the latest casualties and remembering all the things are still happening.
"Everyone is welcome to attend the service with the chance of wreath laying."
Bishop Alf Chipman will lead the service in a brief prayer with Dick Walker playing the Last Post and reveille.
Noel reminded residents Anakie St would be closed for the duration of the service.
