Severe storms expected tonight

UPDATE, 9.47pm: SEVERE thunderstoms with damaging wind and large hailstones may develop in Springsure tonight.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:

  • Move your car under cover or away from trees.
  • Secure loose outdoor items.
  • Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
  • Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
  • Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
  • For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning at 9.47pm.

Check the Bureau of Meteorology's website at www.bom.gov.au for a further update due by 12.50am.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, or call 1300 659 219.
