Severe storm warning for Qld

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a top priority severe thunderstorm warning for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and Warrego Districts.

The bureau said locations which may be affected include Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby, Maroochydore, Roma, Gympie, Kingaroy, Stanthorpe and Goondiwindi. 

The warning said damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones are expected over the next several hours.

Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should secure loose outdoor items, stay indoors, move cars undercover and away from trees and avoid using the telephone.
