Sex offenders jailed

FIVE men, including a 67-year-old Rubyvale man who shared 17,500 images of young girls with other sex fiends have been sentenced for child abuse offences.

Kenneth Douglas Wright, 67, of Rubyvale, was sentenced on Friday in the Rockhampton District Court to three years jail with a release date set after 12 months following guilty pleas to four charges including using a carriage service to disseminate images of child abuse.

The photos involved videos and images of 1000 child victims and included the abuse of children while bound and gagged as well as bestiality involving pre-pubescent girls and dogs.

“The worst imaginable, other than that involving killing people for others’ gratification,” Judge David Reid said.

Wright accessed the files between March, 2005, and June, 2009.

Judge Reid said the only aspect of his case that saved him from serving a longer period in prison was his health.

Wright will be released from prison on a security of $2000 and a good behaviour bond for five years.

Four other Rockampton men were sentenced by the court for similar offences, three receiving jail terms.
