Shane Warne unleashes on cricket heirarchy
FORMER Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne called the Cricket Australia hierarchy "muppets".
Current Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell presumably called the Sri Lankans a lot worse after the tourists' two-run win in the second T20 clash at the MCG on Monday night.
Maxwell was on strike and needed to hit a boundary from the final delivery from Brisbane Heat all-rounder Thisara Perera to clinch victory - the tourists made him wait.
Before the final ball was bowled, Sri Lanka's fielders gathered around Perera to discuss field placements and an angry Maxwell yelled at them to get on with it.
When Perera did finally bowl, Maxwell had a swing and a miss and could only manage to run a bye, meaning Sri Lankan won the series 2-0.
Perera then gave Maxwell a big send off, which in turn triggered more angry words between Maxwell and former captain Mahela Jayawardene.
While he was fired up on the ground, Maxwell admitted yesterday that he had apologised for his outburst after the game.
"A few words were said and they'll probably stay out at the ground. I chatted to the guys afterwards and they were all fine, and we were all pretty good mates afterwards," he said.
"Mahela came and said sorry to me, and I went into the (Sri Lankan) change room and said sorry to him and had a drink afterwards and it was all history."
While Maxwell has made his peace, the same cannot be said of his fellow Victorian Warne after he took to Twitter to vent his feelings at former Wallabies back Pat Howard, the performance manager for Cricket Australia and the man responsible for overseeing the controversial rotation policy, after the Australians lost.
"Absolute rubbish re selections, rotations, resting and farcical decisions on matches, joke," Warne tweeted.
"Dudding the public and to (sic) many excuses. Wake up CA.
"Can CA please put current cricket people in charge to run the game (and) select teams, not ex rugby or any other sportspeople plse (sic), seriously!!!
"I think CA really need to look at the people who are making decisions on all facets of cricket in Australia, we r (sic) seriously becoming a joke!
"We have the best batsmen (sic) / captain in the world in (Michael Clarke) - he needs current cricket people to help him out not muppets!!!"
