Show and Shine success
MOTORING enthusiasts walked around Grafton Showground yesterday looking at the gleaming paintwork and shining chrome of 114 cars, hot rods and bikes, at the Grafton Vintage Motor Vehicle Club’s annual Shannon’s Show and Shine.
Club president Tom Raven said despite Saturday’s wet weather, the show was a great success with about 1000 people of all ages attending.
“We were down a little on entries due to the rain but we had a very successful day in terms of the cars and for the public,” he said.
A highlight of the Shannon’s Show and Shine was the famous VK Chickadee Commodore, driven to victory in the 1986 Bathurst 1000 by Graeme Bailey and Alan Grice.
The Commodore, which was restored to race condition, made the pilgrimage to Grafton from the National Motor Racing Museum at Mount Panorama.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the Show and Shine, especially The Daily Examiner,” Mr Raven said.
