Slick response to Hospital Rd spill

THERE was minimal disruption to vehicle traffic on Hospital Rd on Wednesday afternoon, despite a 30-metre oil spill. Emergency service crews and Central Highlands council workers were called to respond to the incident at the corner of Hospital Rd and Harris St. It is believed an oil drum burst when it rolled off the back of a utility.

One lane on Hospital Rd was closed as fire crews covered the oil slick with absorbent sand.

Police were unavailable for comment yesterday.
