Slipper strike-out application judgment due tomorrow

FORMER Speaker of the Federal Parliament Peter Slipper will find out on Wednesday if he has succeeded in having the sexual harassment case brought against him by former staffer James Ashby thrown out of court.

Justice Steven Rares will deliver his judgment on Mr Slipper's strike out application in Sydney's Federal Court.

The Sunshine Coast MP, who resigned as Speaker in October after lurid text messages he sent Mr Ashby were made public, claims Mr Ashby's case was designed to damage him and the government.

He represented himself when the matter was heard in October.

Mr Ashby reached a $50,000 settlement with the Commonwealth, which he was suing for failing to provide a safe working environment.
