Help for 'cracked' iPhone users
IT’S a concentration lapse that lasts just a fraction of a second and then you hear it — “crack”.
Your iPhone is face down and all you can do is hope.
But, more often than not, it’s a gonner.
Phone repairer David Athorn said cracked smart phone screens had become all too common in Toowoomba.
Mr Athorn, who has been fixing touch screen phones for more than five years, said he was currently fixing an average of two cracked screens every day.
“It depends on the surface it lands on,” Mr Athorn, who owns mobile phone accessory and repair business Mobile4u at Toowoomba Plaza, explained.
“But it can happen quite easily.”
The good news is the phones can also be fixed relatively quickly in Toowoomba.
While work by a local repairer may void your phone insurance or warranty, they can often be repaired same-day and is much quicker than sending the phone away.
Forbes Batteries and Communications manager Nick Gillam said his office performed an average of two to three repairs every day.
“I guess the way they’re designed they’re not as tough as the old designs,” he said.
