Coast snappers capture storm's frightening beauty

SUNSHINE Coast skies lit up this week during some dazzling night-time lightning shows.

Talented Coast photographers took some stunning shots of lightning strikes, but the night-time entertainment could be off for a while.

After today, meteorologists have forecast sunny skies and little chance of rain right up until Christmas Day.

Weatherzone senior meteorologist Rob Sharpe said the low-pressure trough forecast to sweep through the Coast last night had cleared and moved offshore. Today is set to be dry and sunny with a top of 28 degrees.

Onshore winds will flow through the region from tomorrow through to next week, bringing cooler, less humid days.

"We will see days of around 28 degrees right until at least Christmas Eve, but there will be moist onshore winds which could bring a shower or two," Mr Sharpe said.

"This should be the end of the muggy days, stormy afternoon scenario for the Coast for a while.

"The scenario for Christmas Day right now is 29 degrees and sunny."
