'Sneaky' VW nearly crushed by huge truck in Toowoomba

A VOLKSWAGEN was nearly crushed by a large truck on Anzac Ave while "undertaking" it.

Dash cam footage filmed by a third car shows southbound traffic backed up on Anzac Ave.

The vehicles approach the turnoff to Clifford Gardens and the lights on James St.

A large truck is seen attempting to turn left.

The third car pulls up behind the truck, which has its indicator on.

Suddenly a small white car attempts to "undertake" the truck by going straight in the left lane.

Undertaking is defined as overtaking on the inside; that is to say, a lane to the left of the vehicle that is turning left.

The truck moves forward just as the car attempts the manoeuvre and the car narrowly avoids being hit.

The person recording the dash cam said they then moved their car to block the left lane to avoid similar incidents happening while the truck was turning.

Although unsure of what the large truck was doing at that intersection, they said the manoeuvre was stupid.

It was also described as "sneaky".

"A B-double somehow gets into a place I'm not sure it should be and then someone thinks it's a good idea to go up the inside of a turning truck."
