Welsh wonder no worries for cool Wilkshire

SOCCEROOS veteran Luke Wilkshire is taking a chilled-out approach into tonight’s showdown with Welsh wonder Gareth Bale in Cardiff.

Tottenham winger Bale is one of the most damaging footballers on the planet on any pitch, let alone in his hometown.

When Bale has been fit over the past 12 months, he has consistently humiliated defenders with his blistering turn of speed and wicked left foot.

However right back Wilkshire, who will have to handle the majority of Bale’s runs down Australia’s flank during the friendly international, said he wasn’t going to get stressed out about the assignment.

“You don’t go losing sleep over who you are coming up against,” Dynamo Moscow player Wilkshire said.

Socceroos veteran Brett Emerton will be the man backtracking on his right wing trying to help out Wilkshire.

“He (Bale) is a fantastic player and one of the best natural wide men in the game at the moment,” Emerton said.

“He has had a fantastic 12 months so he is going to be tough opposition for us. If he is anywhere near his best, he is one we are going to have to look after.

“The Welsh team is full of talented players and I think their ranking does not do them justice.”
