Sport and recreation clubs share in funding

EIGHT Central Highlands sport and recreation clubs will share in more than $117,000 worth of funding from the Queensland Government.

The successful applicants for the latest rounds of the Get Playing Places and Spaces and Get Going Clubs programs were recently announced.

Mayor Cr Kerry Hayes congratulated those organisations receiving a grant.

"These funding programs enable local sporting and recreation clubs to grow and prosper,” he said.

"Dedicated, passionate volunteers work tirelessly all year round fundraising and applying for available grants, so to those clubs who were successful - well done. This is a real credit to you.”

The organisations approved for funding are:

Get Going Clubs

Central Highlands BMX Club - $7500. Train volunteers in financial management, fundraising and grants and mentor committee management to support BMX at Emerald.

Central Highlands Junior Rugby League - $7435. Deliver coach and referee education and first aid officer courses and conduct a come and try day for females to support rugby league in the Central Highlands.

Emerald and District Athletics Association - $6294. Purchase marquees to support athletics at Emerald.

Emerald Eagles Football Club - $4720. Provide accreditation for junior, youth and senior coaching levels, first aid training and level 2 and 3 referee accreditation to support football at Emerald.

Emerald Netball Association $5502. Conduct first aid training and development level accreditation for coaches and purchase $2331 of equipment including a $2015 defibrillator to support netball at Emerald.

Springsure Gymnastics and Cheerleading Club - $7500. Purchase gymnastic mats to support gymnastics at Springsure.

Get Playing Places and Spaces

Capella Campdraft Association - $60,137. Upgrade equestrian arena surface at Bridgeman Park, Capella

Emerald and District Athletics Association - $17,985. Upgrade triple-jump run way for athletics at Emerald.
