Springborg accepts private jet flight from Guatam Adani

FORMER Queensland Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg accepted a private jet trip from Gautam Adani during a $25,000 taxpayer funded trip to Japan, China, India and Singapore.

The trip on Adani's jet was declared when state MPs tabled their register of interests in parliament on Thursday,

When asked about the flight Mr Springborg said it did not impact any of his decisions because: "I'd made up my mind before I went."

He said the flight on the private jet owned by the Indian billionaire enabled him to tour power stations and ports of Mr Adani's in Mundra before flying to Ahmedabad to meet with the man himself.

"More people should do it," he said.

"If they did we wouldn't have all the carry-on we've got now."

He added the port and power station facilities were world class and many Australians would be impressed by the way Mr Adani had rebuilt villages for his workers to live in.

In his report on the trip Mr Springborg said he was able to "brief Mr Adani on developments in the Queensland Parliament including the State Opposition' s role in ensuring a seamless approval processes."

Mr Springborg took the trip with his chief-of-staff Jake Smith.

Mr Smith's bill for flights, accommodation and allowances, over the 13 days, was $24,012.88.

Mr Springborg's was $25,350.26.

Mr Springborg said all the expenses claimed in relation to the trip and the jet flight were declared in accordance with the relevant legislation.
