Brooke on Alpha course
SPRINGSURE golfer Brooke O'Keeffe has swung her way onto the podium at the 2015 Queensland Women's Sand Green Championship at Alpha Golf Club last weekend.
O'Keeffe shot a final round score of 66 (-4) to join her first round score of even par-70 to take out the Silver Division by six shots.
The overnight leader, O'Keeffe managed just a single shot start over Emerald member Sonia Bray, who returned a 71 (+1).
Bray returned another consistent round of 71 to finish on 142 (+2) for the championship, enough to secure second place.
Central Highlands locals Michelle Green, Denise Vale and Aloma Everingham of Alpha, Karen Euston and Sonja Allen of Emerald, and Trudi Sullivan and Gay Dendle of Springsure were also at the tournament.
In Bronze One division, Lola Cuffe and Loretta Lockie fired first round scores of 87 to lead the division by a single stroke.
Cuffe returned a second round score of 86.
Lockie's second round wasn't good enough to join the pair and a sudden death play-off was required to separate the players.
Cuffe was the eventual winner on the second play-off after a neck and neck contest.
All players were greeted with superb conditions on both days of the championship.
The Alpha Golf Club received extremely positive comments from all involved due to the great preparation of the course and the club's kind, country hospitality.
