THE town of Clermont came alive with the Sound of Movies last Thursday night.

St Joseph’s held their school production Sound of Movies with Prep to Year 7 participating in the performance.

Year 6 and 7 teacher, Sam Hassett, was the organiser of the production and said the night was very successful with lots of positive feedback from everyone who attended.

The Sound of Movies was an awesome experience… the children loved performing and have said how much they miss it already,” Sam said.

The teachers decided to write a musical instead of a Christmas concert and incorporated lots of local jokes and wrote it so all the students could participate.

‘Movies’ was the chosen theme with each class choosing their own movie scene and finding two songs that related to the movie.

Some of the movies chosen by the classes included Cat in the Hat, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Avatar which kept the students busy preparing for the production for the past 10 weeks.

The production revolves around kids in a movie store trying to decide which DVD they should get.

With each movie suggested, the children are transported to the set of each DVD with the main cast interacting with each movie scene.

Eventually mum returns to the movie store and since the kids can’t decide on a movie, she chooses a movie, Grease, which was performed by the teachers.

“It was so much fun on the night seeing how much each of the children enjoyed themselves on stage,” Sam said.

“One of my favourite parts was when everybody was on stage- it’s not often you get to put your whole school on a stage let alone all singing and dancing.”
