LAURA Brazier will use the Australia Day Triathlon at Stanthorpe as preparation for the bike leg for the Hell of the West Triathlon at Goondiwindi.

Brazier and fellow Warwick Friendly Society Pharmacies staff member Rachel Taylor are going in the Stanthorpe event on Monday.

It will be the first Stanthorpe event for Taylor and second for Brazier.

"I was so pleased to finish last year and hope to be a bit faster this year," Brazier said.

She said her best leg was the bike and worst the swim.

"I have been doing a bit of swimming but not as much as I should be," Brazier said.

"I am doing a lot of bike riding as I am in a team for the Hell of the West."

On Monday, Brazier will compete at Stanthorpe in a 400m swim, 10km cycle and 3.5km run.

She will combine with swimmer Ben Austin and runner Andrew Buckley for the February 1 Hell of the West in the open mixed masters event.

Many Warwick triathletes will use the event at Stanthorpe as part of their Goondiwindi preparation, including national masters swimming medallist Wayne Schnitzerling who will do the individual event at Goondiwindi.

Entry forms for Monday from Smail's Swim School at Stanthorpe or Redback Cycles in Warwick.

There are under-12 races over 100m swim, 4km bike ride and 1km run.
