Steam train treat for Ipswich commuters

QUEENSLAND Rail has marked 150 years of rail with a surprise steam train journey for morning commuters.

The 1079 steam train, better known as "Bety", pulled seven carriages into Ipswich station at 7am this morning.

The train took passengers to Brisbane, stopping at Redbank, Darra, Corinda and Indooroopilly on the way.

The same train will bring commuters home again this afternoon.
