THE Block's larrikins Sticks and Wombat have finally scored their first win on the reality renovation show during hallway and laundry week.

After getting slammed by the buyers' advocates for their identity crisis, the best mates undertook a style overhaul to soften their home.

The result was a beautifully styled, if narrow, hallway that, combined with their well-executed laundry and guest bathroom, that earned a perfect score from judge Neale Whitaker.

"These guys never ever fail to bring a simple to my face," Neale said.

Shaynna Blaze added: "This is finally that little bit of femininity that they needed. Look at those flowers, look at this colour palette. Even though it's a narrow hallway it feels amazing."

Sticks and Wombat used their bonus point, although it turned out that they didn't need to.

Without the extra point they still would have finished half a point ahead of Josh and Elyse, who blew the judges away with their perfectly styled entrance.

"I'm thinking back over 11 season of The Block and I can't ever remember a hallway that's had the same impact on me as this," Neale said. "It is beyond beautiful."

But the young guns were let down by the practicalities of their laundry and the lack of another toilet.

"I was hoping the laundry was going to make up for the lost storage in there (the guest bathroom from week one)," Shaynna said.

"I've just realised this is the only house that doesn't have an extra toilet or powder room."

Jason and Sarah finished third by just half a point, impressing the judges with their wide hallway and architectural skylight.

"Just based on the impact I've got just two words: nailed it," Neale said.

The judges were split on whether or not Jason and Sarah's pendant lights distracted from the skylight, but were equally impressed with their laundry.

"I don't think I've ever use the word sexy to describe a laundry, but I am going to now," Neale said.

If they'd finished their painting and final touches, they could have been on to a winner.

"I feel for them because they've come a long way from two weeks ago," Shaynna said, referring to the drama surrounding the late delivery of their master bedroom.

"I think they should be pretty proud of themselves. This week and last week have been their best rooms."

Ronnie and Georgia, who failed to finish their painting for the first time, finished fourth. Their archway was praised for its function, but questioned for its style.

"This has got a lot of drama for me because this (the artwork and styling) is 1920s and art deco and that (archway) is Victorian," Shaynna said.

The couple also lost points for the functionality of their laundry.

"You get the impression they were really rushing to get everything finished," Neale said.

"Unfortunately this (the laundry) is really going to bring that (the hallway) down."

Queenslanders Hannah and Clint finished last after failing to complete all of their painting and plaster work.

The judges declared their hallway boring after the couple ran out of time to put up the paneling they planned to continue from their parents' retreat.

"This is a much more modest hallway," Neale said.

"The problem with this hallway for me is it doesn't give a sense of the drama of this house."

Their second hallway to their bedrooms and guest bathroom also lacked any styling and just felt like a hallway of closed doors.

Luckily their laundry was praised for its storage, functionality and styling.

"There are definitely some nice touches in this laundry, but with the hallway and laundry combined I feel like they still have a way to go before they're finished," Neale said.

This upcoming week the teams will renovate their final interior room, a guest bedroom. They can also start planning their backyards.
