Pumicestone Passage stonefish victim rushed to hospital
A MAN suffered from a stonefish sting in the Pumicestone Passage yesterday afternoon.
Police officers were at the Caloundra Powerboat Club in Golden Beach on an unrelated matter when they saw a boat coming into the ramp at high speed around 12.15pm.
It is understood the man had a barb through a muscle.
Ambulance officers were unable to attend as they were diverted to a more urgent case, so the police officers transported the man to the Caloundra Hospital.
He was discharged before 4pm.
This comes after a five-year-old girl stood on a freshwater stonefish (bullrout) while enjoying a day out with her family at the popular Mooloolah Valley swimming spot, Hell Hole on Christmas Eve.
