Stosur out of Brisbane International

US OPEN champion Samantha Stosur insists being the Brisbane International pin-up girl is more help than hindrance despite her shock exit from her home event today.

The top seed and world No. 6 was bundled out by unheralded Czech Iveta Benesova 6-4 6-2 at Pat Rafter Arena.

It was the second year in a row she won just a solitary match despite carrying top billing coming into the season-opening event.

However, she insists she hasn't buckled under the pressure of coming home as Australia's first female Grand Slam winner since Evonne Goolagong.

"I know there's the extra expectation but I also know I have the crowd behind me and I know that's a hell of a position for me to be in, when you go on court and you've got all the fans screaming for you and wanting you to win," she said.
