Street sex quest ends in charges

A 59-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after he allegedly drove around Bundaberg’s streets approaching women for paid sex.

Police allege the Childers man spent from about 9am-2.30pm on Monday kerb crawling, and solicited at least three women and two teenage girls.

It is also alleged the man committed a sex act in public.

Bundaberg police Detective Sergeant Ben Fadian said the man had approached women on Electra St, near Hinkler Central shopping centre, and Walla St, near the skate park.

“The 59-year-old man was charged with two (counts of) attempting to indecently treat a child under the age of 16, committing an indecent act and three counts of soliciting for prostitution,” Det Sgt Fadian said.

“We believe he may have approached other women, so any women who were approached are asked to contact Bundaberg police or Crime Stoppers.”

Det Sgt Fadian said the man was driving around town in a four-wheel drive.

The man is due to face Bundaberg Magistrates Court on October 3.

If you have any information on further offences, call Bundaberg police on 4153 9111 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
