Too many brews on the green a "stupid mistake"

A MAN has been caught drink-driving after he consumed a few beers while playing golf.

At Ipswich Magistrates Court, Scott Donnelly pleaded guilty to driving over the general alcohol limit.

The court was told Donnelly, 41, was pulled over by police in Raceview on October 18.

Donnelly told officers he was driving from his home to the markets at Booval Fair.

Before getting behind the wheel, Donnelly said he had consumed four beers while playing golf that morning, then two more when he arrived home.

He was breath-tested and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.066.

Donnelly told the court that he regretted his "stupid mistake".

Magistrate Barry Cosgrove noted that Donnelly had been previously convicted of drink-driving in 2010, when he recorded a reading of 0.101.
