
Swift water rescue team saves trapped kayaker
UPDATE: A MAN who was trapped clinging to a tree in the middle of a fast-flowing creek near Sarina has been rescued, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said.
A spokeswoman said swift water rescue technicians from Mackay had pulled the man - who was originally in a kayak - from the creek off Vella Road.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said information was still trickling in, but it was believed the man did not need medical treatment.
INITIAL: A MAN has been trapped clinging to a tree in the middle of a fast-flowing creek in Sarina, according to Queensland Fire and Rescue Service.
A spokesman said swift water rescue technicians were on the way from Mackay to the creek off Vella Road to save the man, who was originally in a kayak.
Despite being "caught in fast-flowing water", the spokesman said the man is "safe at the moment".
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics have been called to the scene, but there's been no reports of injuries at this stage.
