Tampon thrown at Maccas worker

A TEWANTIN woman has been charged with assault after she allegedly threw a used tampon at a McDonald's drive- through operator, police said.

In what authorities have described as the worst non-violent assault case seen in recent times, the 19-year-old male victim was confronted by the unhappy customer at the Noosaville store at 2.55am last Sunday.

Police claim the 27-year-old woman was a passenger in a vehicle.

"The victim has given the driver some of the order and asked the driver to park in a parking bay nearby," Noosa Heads police acting officer in charge Dean Holmes said.

"The female passenger has then allegedly removed some fries from the bag, exited the vehicle and walked around to the drive-through attendant."

Police claim the pair was involved in a discussion when the teenage victim felt something wet on his hand.

"He has looked down to see her holding the used tampon by the string and dabbing it on his hand," Acting Senior Sergeant Holmes said.

"The victim has then run to the sink to wash his hands when two witnesses claim they saw the offender throw it at his back, but it missed and splattered on the fridge."

Security footage allowed police to track down the vehicle and owner.

Snr Sgt Holmes said the 27-year-old woman attended Noosa Heads police station.

She refused to participate in an interview and was charged with common assault and will appear at Noosa Magistrates Court next month.

Snr Sgt Holmes said the allegations were "extremely distasteful".
