Accused rapist kept in custody


UPDATE: A TEENAGER charged with the rape of an 84-year-old woman at a residence in Oakey last night has been kept in custody.

The 19-year-old man appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court this morning.

He did not appy for bail and was remanded in custody until January 12 next year.

Police allege the man broke into a home and sexually assaulted the woman about 7.15pm.

The woman was taken to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment.

The Cunnamulla man is charged with one count of assault with intent to rape, one count of rape, one count of depravation of liberty, one count of burglary, one count of stealing, one count of serious assault and two counts of obstruct police.
