Teen dies after quad bike crash
A TEENAGER died yesterday afternoon as a result of a quad motorbike crash at Cape Palmerston.
The 18-year-old woman was riding a quad bike on the beach and it is believe at 11.17am she fell off the bike and collided with rocks, a police spokesman said.
She was airlifted by the RACQ-CQ Rescue helicopter to Mackay Base Hospital but later died from her injuries.
It is believed she was wearing her helmet when the incident occurred, the police spokesman said.
The forensic crash unit will conduct further investigations at the scene today, he said.
