Teens to front court over Subway robbery

UPDATE: Police have charged two Toowoomba teenagers over the robbery of a Subway restaurant at Wilsonton.

The 14-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were this morning charged with one count each of entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence and robbery.

They are due to appear in custody in Toowoomba Children's Court today.

EARLIER: Police have this morning arrested two teenagers in relation to the robbery of the Wilsonton Subway sandwich outlet.

Toowoomba Child Protection Investigation Unit acting-officer-in-charge Grant Gleeson said a 14-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were helping police with their inquiries into last night's robbery.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Gleeson said two unarmed juveniles entered the Subway store shortly after 10pm and demanded money from staff.

"The employee there has then done the right thing and not put themselves at risk by listening to their directions," Det. Act. Snr Sgt Gleeson said.

He said the juveniles then fled with a sum of cash across Captain Cook oval.

Police arrested two teenagers about 8am today.
