TEXAS player Wendy Watson captained Australia for the first time when she toured New Zealand late last month with the Australian touch rugby team.
"It was a great thrill to captain Australia," Watson said.
"The coach decides the captain before each game."
Watson toured New Zealand in 2007 in the mixed masters' team and in 2009 and this year played in the national team in the senior mixed masters' age group.
Fellow Texas player Jaime Scott played for Australia for the first time in the mixed masters' team in Rotorua.
"We had a great time but unfortunately New Zealand beat us in both divisions on the scoreboard," Watson said.
Scott was a link and wing player for the Australians and according to Watson had an outstanding series.
"We are both keen to try out for next year's Trans Tasman Series at the Gold Coast and then in 2013 when there is talk of the international tournament being played in Fiji," Watson said.
Both play for Jeff's Jokers in Warwick mixed touch each Wednesday night.
