Qld Ed Dept moves plan forward
THE Queensland Government is looking for up to 20 high schools to begin taking Year 7 students two years ahead of schedule in a pilot program.
Year 7 will shift from primary school to high school in Queensland in 2015, but Premier Anna Bligh is seeking expressions of interest from high schools to begin in 2013.
“Many state schools have already indicated they wish to make the move earlier than 2015, and the opening of the expression of interest process today will allow them formally register their interest,” she said.
Education Minister Cameron Dick said interested schools should register with Education Queensland’s regional director by August 22, and selected schools would then be asked to make a submission.
