New strategy needed

THE weekend started with forfeits from two clubs and this makes it hard for Dysart to make a quid to run their club. More importantly the players missed out on match conditioning before the first semi-final in which Dysart has a bye. Best of luck to Dysart and I am sure Bill will have them fit and ready to go in three weeks. Let’s hope they get a game this weekend.

The league needs big days like Blackwater had on Saturday (combined juniors and senior fixtures). It would have been their biggest day so far this year for the club. The league needs to focus on the draw so this can happen. There were a lot of children at the last game of the night watching the seniors. Someone needs to combine the two competitions - senior and junior - for the clubs and leagues to survive. It was a huge scoreline 52-40 at the end and there wasn’t a lot of tackling but good attack from each team.

All clubs please rally your players to play the last game and let’s have no forfeits this weekend.

Tomorrow at McIndoe Park fifth spot will be finalised between Clermont and Emerald Cowboys. But neither is playing each other. Two good games are in order for the season’s finish starting at 4pm.

It will be an exciting finals series as the teams are close. The Pirates to me are favourites for the title.

Don’t forget one big day in Blackwater tomorrow with all semi-finals for the juniors in the under-12s to 18s starting at 9.30am. There will be some good junior players on show.

Get down to your local games.
