Relay for life unveils 2011 patron

THIS year the Central Highlands Relay For Life is being held on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, at the Emerald Showgrounds.

The Patron of Relay this year is Mayor Peter Maguire.

New faces are couple Sue and Ian Johnson.

Another new idea is a mini relay which would involve primary school students.

This will be held from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday and has been introduced so school children can have the chance to be a part of the great event. More information on this will be sent to the schools at the beginning of Term 3.

If you would like join a night of fun, put together a team, get dressed up in costumes and walk to help the fight against cancer. There are 15 teams registered but more are wanted.

Phone Kim on 0428 888 498, Julie on 0447 127 873 or Diane on 0419 65 00 35 for more information or visit the website: www.relayforlife.org.au or visit Relay’s stall at Ag-Grow. This year Cancer Council Queensland is celebrating 50 years of volunteers supporting Queenslanders affected with cancer and are asking teams to base their themes around this celebration, whether something from the 50s or dressing in gold.

Multi-draw raffle tickets to sell are available.

Any teams holding events please email or contact Diane so it can be included in Relay’s weekly column on 0419 65 00 35 or email dianebateman@bigpond.com.
