Thor's Chris Hemsworth is coming back to Queensland
THOR star Chris Hemsworth will attend the Gold Coast premiere of the movie next month.
While it was originally announced that Hemsworth and his co-star Mark Ruffalo would only attend the Sydney premiere on October 15, it was confirmed this morning that the Australian actor would attend the premiere on the Gold Coast on October 13.
He will join director Taika Waititi and executive producer Brad Winderbaum on the red carpet at Even Cinemas Robina.
It comes after The Courier-Mail revealed Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been lobbying behind the scenes for him to attend.
Ms Palaszczuk had personally written to "Mr Hemsworth" asking him to join her in the celebrations on the Gold Coast.
However the Byron Bay local, who was integral in the decision to film the Marvel blockbuster in Queensland, was locked into a filming schedule for Avengers 4 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Courier-Mail understands a scheduling change allowed Hemsworth to change his plans and travel to Australia early for the Gold Coast date.
"He always wanted to come," a source said.
"A schedule change has allowed this to happen. Everyone's very happy about it."
Thor: Ragnarok filmed on location around the Gold Coast, including a four-day shoot in Brisbane, last year.
It also stars Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Jeff Goldblum.
