Three charged after teen stabbed at party

CHARGES have been laid against three people after a 17-year-old was allegedly stabbed at a party in the Illawarra on the weekend.

Three males allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old boy and two of his friends when they left a party in Melaleuca Way in Albion Park Rail to talk briefly with friends in a nearby street on Saturday.

The accused males, aged 17, 19 and 27, then left the party and allegedly returned armed with knives.

Police were called, but the three males had left by the time they arrived and the 17-year-old alleged victim and his friends had returned to the party.

About 2.40am the same 19-year-old from the earlier fight allegedly re-entered the party and a fight broke out, ending with the 17-year-old boy suffering a stab wound to his thigh.

Paramedics treated the boy and took him to Shellharbour Hospital.

Police arrested three males, aged 17, 19, and 27, at another house on Melaleuca Way about 4.50pm yesterday.

The 19-year-old man was charged with wound person with intent, two counts of affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and armed with intent.

The 27-year-old man was charged with affray, armed with intent and common assault.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with affray and armed with intent.

All three were refused bail.

The 19-year-old and the 27-year old men will both appear at Wollongong Local Court today.

The 17-year-old boy is due to appear in a Children's Court on September 19. -ARM NEWSDESK
