A 20-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital with severe head injuries after the car he was travelling in swerved into a power pole.

The man was one of three people travelling in a car that lost control and crashed in Collingwood Park just after 5am yesterday.

Ambulance officers were called to the crash near Reerden St about 5.18am before calling police to attend.

Paramedics transported the 20-year-old man to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

Police said in a statement that a 22-year-old man, who had been driving the car, and a 24-year-old man, who had also been a passenger, were taken to the Ipswich General Hospital with minor injuries.

An Ipswich police spokesman said the Forensic Crash Unit was investigating the accident.

A power pole, give-way sign and the road bitumen showed signs of damage from the crash.

Anyone who can provide information about the accident has been urged to contact Ipswich police or phone Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
