Tiffany Thomas Kane takes gold in the 100m SB6 breaststroke

Tiffany Thomas Kane is 15-years-old and on top of the world after winning gold at the Paralympics on Friday morning (Australian time).

The teenager won the 100m SB6 breaststroke.

"I'm feeling so happy and shocked, I wanted to win that medal... and just to be able to think that I have it now and it's mine, I'm just really happy and I can't believe it," Thomas Kane said.

You could tell just how much the medal meant to Thomas Kane during the presentation ceremony when she teared up.

The event is Thomas Kane's pet race.

Despite this she said she was really nervous beforehand.

"I just thought (I have) to go try my best," Thomas Kane said.

"I'm just so happy to think that the gold medal is mine, and I did it."

Thomas Kane said it had been a long four years waiting for this event.
