TOOWOOMBA resident Peter Mouatt's idea to keep locals entertained while attracting more tourists to the Garden City is gaining traction.

He has suggested a luge to the bottom of the Toowoomba Range and a chairlift back to the top be built.

Melissa Doran said it was a great idea and would benefit tourists and locals.

Her comments were echoed by others.

Natalie Mike Veronique said it was an "absolutely awesome" idea.

"(The Range) is underutilised and all the views are lost driving up it," she said.

Kimberley Nolan-Rowe said: "They do it in New Zealand in Rotorua. (It's an) amazing tourist attraction and heaps of fun.

George Bojo said he liked the idea.

"There's plenty for families these days but nothing for single thrill seekers," he said.

Matthew Zessin was more practical in his approach.

"How about we focus on things we actually need first? Like the second range crossing." he said.
